The Optimist Club of Winston-Salem
The Optimist Club of Winston-Salem has been serving the youth of our community since 1948. "Friend of Youth” is the club motto and guiding principle. The club is a non-political, non-denominational civic club open to those who wish to serve the community. Our members are women, men, business people, homemakers, retirees; just about anyone who has a few hours each month to volunteer. Our members attend one or two meetings each month and participate in one to two club projects per year.
In addition to sponsoring youth sports programs, the Optimist Club sponsors an oratorical contest for middle school students and an essay contest for high school students. Winning these contest can result in a significant awards of scholarship monies. For more information about these contests please click on the Oratorical or Essay Contest tabs located under "Club Info".
